Definition Index - AVM

An AVM which stands for Artriovenous Vascular Malformation, is an abnormal tangle of veins connecting to the brain which may or may not rupture throughout one's lifetime, although it is believed the blood vessel walls are weaker in the carrier's teens (13-21 years of age), thus making ruptures in that age group to be predominent. Though AVMs can develop anywhere in the body, they are most oftenly found in the brain or spine.
